How to Clone a Resume?

Learn how to duplicate or clone a Base Resume in Careerflow.ai to quickly create tailored versions for specific job applications.

Updated yesterday

When applying to multiple jobs, having customized versions of your resume is key. Instead of creating a new resume from scratch each time, Careerflow.ai allows you to clone an existing Base Resume—saving time and ensuring consistency across your documents.

Cloning is particularly useful when your experiences remain the same, but the job requires a slightly different emphasis—whether that’s highlighting different skills, adjusting summaries, or changing keywords to match a specific job description.

⚠️ Note: Only Base Resumes can be cloned. If you need to make changes to a Job-Tailored Resume, consider creating a new version from the Base Resume instead.

Getting Started

Step 1: Go to the Resume Builder

  • Log in to your Careerflow.ai account and navigate to the Resume Builder from the left-hand menu.

Method 1: Clone from the Resume List View

Step 2: Locate Your Base Resume

  • Scroll through your list of resumes and identify the Base Resume you want to clone.

Step 3: Click the Clone Icon

  • Next to the Base Resume, click the clone (copy) icon. This will immediately duplicate the resume.

Step 4: Verify the Clone

  • A new resume titled “Copy of [Original Resume Name]” will appear in your list, confirming the process was successful.

Method 2: Clone from Within the Resume Editor

Step 2: Open the Base Resume

  • Click to open the Base Resume in the editor.

Step 3: Access the Options Menu

  • Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.

Step 4: Select “Clone Resume”

  • Choose “Clone Resume” from the dropdown list. The system will create and load the duplicated version.

Step 5: Verify the Clone

  • You’ll be redirected to the cloned resume, now labeled “Copy of...” to differentiate it from the original.

💡Cloning your Base Resume makes it easy to create targeted versions for different job applications while keeping the original untouched. It’s a powerful way to save time, preserve formatting, and customize your content for each opportunity. Just remember that only Base Resumes can be cloned—tailored resumes must be generated from a Base Resume.
